The Patterson Foundation is creating new opportunities for our community to connect with Patriot Plaza's stories of service and sacrifice by contributing pieces of its commissioned artwork to community partners working to strengthen our veterans and military families.

University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee was the beneficiary of artwork from The Patterson Foundation that was previously displayed at Patriot Plaza. The USF SM campus received a piece of artwork titled “Sacrifice."

Goodwill Manasota was the beneficiary of artwork from The Patterson Foundation that was previously displayed at Patriot Plaza. Goodwill's veterans services office received a piece of artwork titled “Integrity,” featuring a replica of the famous photo of the American flag raising at Iwo Jima.

The Patterson Foundation team reached out to local organizations and entities to find appropriate homes for several Testimonies tablets that were originally exhibited at Patriot Plaza. To be eligible, recipients need to meet two criteria: provide a valuable service to our community and have a program that honors veterans in a meaningful way.

Produced by The Collaboratory at Ringling College of Art and Design, the Patriot Plaza virtual tour gives participants a way to authentically experience the ceremonial amphitheater at Sarasota National Cemetery — wherever and whenever they want. Through videos that vividly illustrate its commissioned artwork and in-depth narration sharing its significance, those taking the virtual tour will come away with a deeper understanding of and appreciation for America’s veterans and military families.
