Strengthening the Impact
Responses to natural disasters and other humanitarian crises need to be swift and coordinated. The Patterson Foundation strengthens the efforts of people, organizations, and communities by working with NetHope to improve information sharing and data-management strategies between NGOs, communities, and governments in locations around the world affected by disasters.
With NetHope’s on-the-ground efforts combined with member efforts and partner contributions, those faced with the devastation receive the information communications technology to accelerate recovery.

Why does The Patterson Foundation support this initiative?
The Patterson Foundation supports strengthening the efforts of people, organizations, and communities through NetHope’s approach. As a membership organization, NetHope partners with 60+ international nonprofit organizations to provide information and communication technology in response to disasters outside of the United States. NetHope also works closely with technology corporations and uses its expertise in communications and disasters to strengthen those international NGO’s bringing relief in areas of disaster.
What is the impact of The Patterson Foundation’s support?
With each disaster, NetHope does a thorough assessment of the needs of its members and international government disaster agencies to discern what, if any, information communications technology assistance is warranted. After reviewing each individual disaster, The Patterson Foundation provides a level of unrestricted funding that will catalyze other donations for a timely and effective response.
From the refugee crisis to the Ebola outbreak to Hurricane Maria, The Patterson Foundation’s catalytic support of NetHope’s work to fill information communications technology needs during disasters has inspired other funders to lend their resources to help NetHope make a difference.
