Bringing Science Home, a partnership between USF Health and The Patterson Foundation, is developing a new program called Students with Asthma anticipated to launch during fall 2011.
Bringing Science Home already supports the Students with Diabetes program, a USF Health endeavor that has created a community for students living with diabetes in college.
Both groups are the brainchild of Executive Director, Nicole Johnson, a former Miss America living with Type 1 diabetes. Nicole has been a speaker and consultant on diabetes, its issues, concerns and especially the need for educating young people about the disease.
As with diabetes, asthma is a chronic condition that affects not only the individual but also their families and friends as they deal with the daily physical and emotional stress of living with asthma.
