The Patterson Foundation announces clawback challenge to benefit local nonprofits
Posted on October 07, 2013 by The Patterson FoundationDuring times of crisis, communities join together in support and kindness to help those who need it most. While the aftermath of the Nadel Ponzi scheme caused unsolicited financial turmoil for some of our community's nonprofits, we now have a chance to stand together to help them recover from this and help them to continue to provide value to our region.
Today, we announced a clawback challenge for our vibrant and philanthropic region. We will match up to $640,000 -- about 50 percent of what is owed by four local nonprofits to repay what is being clawed back. Each of the four organizations -- Sarasota Opera, Jewish Family and Children's Service Sarasota-Manatee, The Diocese of Venice in Florida and Girls Inc. -- optedĀ to participate in this match opportunity.
We believe that by matching dollar-for-dollar what these organizations are able to fundraise, we can help each organization put this unexpected financial disaster behind them so they can refocus on programming excellence.
