Has it been ten years already? How time does zoom by!

Yes, it has been ten years since The Patterson Foundation dedicated and celebrated the opening and gifting of Patriot Plaza to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Sarasota National Cemetery (SNC).

When Patriot Plaza was just an idea, three themes guided the process: Honor Veterans, Inspire Patriotism, and Embrace Freedom.

Now, in 2024, on the 10th anniversary of Patriot Plaza, we will reminisce together upon the beauty and grace of the Plaza and how it has matured on the grounds of SNC and in our community as a place of reverence, respect, and honor.

Over the last decade, thousands of visitors have enjoyed this majestic world-class outdoor American military museum called Patriot Plaza. While these visitors share moments of their lives with others, there's often a solitary reflection on their thoughts. Guests engaging in the profound ambiance of Patriot Plaza forge a deep connection with the artwork that reflects honor, patriotism, and our nation's struggles and victories to protect our freedom as Americans.

The artwork invites visitors to observe, through various mediums of commissioned art—bronze, mosaic, and documentary photography—our nation's struggles and victories dating from the 1860s American Civil War to all who protect our freedom.

Trained, dedicated Patriot Plaza tour guides volunteer their service to escort visitors. Whether it's school children, veterans and their families, out-of-state guests, or company from foreign countries, guides facilitate an artistically articulated journey of our nation's veterans' experiences.

There is only one Patriot Plaza—resting elegantly upon the hollowed grounds of the Sarasota National Cemetery…so, join us on March 2nd for an uplifting 10th Anniversary Celebration on those beautiful plaza pavers that will welcome your heart and soul. Together, our community will honor our nation's veterans and their families—we will be inspired—and we will embrace our country's sacrifice for the land and freedoms we all hold dear.
