Patriot Plaza community dedication set for June

Posted on January 14, 2014 by The Patterson Foundation

The community dedication of Patriot Plaza, the ceremonial amphitheater at Sarasota National Cemetery, will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014. The dedication will be open to the public, celebrating our region's commitment to honoring veterans and their families this past year as well as commemorating the service and sacrifice of our nation’s military.

The 1.83-acre Patriot Plaza  is a space that honors veterans, inspires patriotism and embraces freedom. It was created through a first-ever partnership between private philanthropy and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs – National Cemetery Administration.

The finished amphitheater, which is fully funded by philanthropy and created without taxpayer dollars, will have covered seating for 2,800 guests, an 80-foot-tall flagpole, and multi-million-dollar commissioned art throughout the space that symbolizes the sacrifice of all veterans and their families.
