Regional Nonprofits Selected for AMT 3.0 Consulting

Posted on June 22, 2021 by Abby Rolland, TPF Fellow 2020/21
For the past several months, The Patterson Foundation has hosted dozens of regional nonprofit organizations as part of Advancing Mission Thrivability (AMT) 3.0. The purpose of this opportunity is to share information with nonprofits on strategic approaches to making mission-focused, economically-informed decisions for their programs, products, and services.

AMT initially began as an offering as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Suncoast nonprofits facing tough decisions during COVID could learn from No Margin, No Mission expert consultants Michael Oxman and Larry Clark about making mission-centric and economically-informed decisions. And while COVID has lessened its grip on the U.S. (although challenges still exist!), the need for nonprofits to make mission-focused and smart financial decisions in the face of various challenges remains. As a result, AMT continues to be relevant for nonprofits interested in learning how to become more “thrivable” by increasing their impact and reach in the communities they serve.

“Through Advancing Mission Thrivability, The Patterson Foundation is providing regional nonprofits with keen insight and proven methods on making sound decisions in today’s rapidly evolving environment,” said Debra Jacobs, president and CEO of The Patterson Foundation. “The organizations selected have already demonstrated their desire to be excellent. We look forward to learning how they benefit from the consulting sessions with No Margin, No Mission.”

After completing a series of labinars and webversations focused on making decisions, participating organizations were given the option to apply for an additional learning opportunity. The Patterson Foundation is re-engaging No Margin, No Mission to provide 1:1 consulting to five of these nonprofits over five weeks. During this time, each can examine decisions for their own specific programs.

Organizations with a profile on The Giving Partner are eligible to participate in Advancing Mission Thrivability. Formed by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, The Giving Partner is a large database that seeks to connect donors with more than 700 nonprofits located throughout Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties. This directory acts as a valuable resource for grantmakers and other philanthropists to guide their giving.

Advancing Mission Thrivability is part of The Patterson Foundation’s Nonprofit Thrivability initiative. This initiative connects nonprofits with expertise and resources to learn concepts like strategic decision-making while adopting and implementing entrepreneurial principles to generate enough revenue to support and eventually grow their operations.
