NetHope Global Summit: Elevating how business and nonprofits embrace tech for the greater good

Since 2011, thanks to an inquiry from NetHope's Disaster guru Gisli Olafsson, The Patterson Foundation has partnered with this global organization.  Why would a place-based foundation engage with NetHope?

1. NetHope's model of networking its members, now 66, the global humanitarian organizations who deliver the vast majority of aid, with its partners, corporations in the technology realm, who strive to have their products, services, and intellectual depth resonate with TPF's approach of working with external sectors.
   
   
2. In the early days of TPF's investment in NetHope, the focus was two-fold: strengthening its organizational capacity and enhancing disaster response. Disaster response aligns closely with TPF's commitment to building resilient communities.
   
   
3. Over time, TPF and NetHope's relationship evolved due to their CEO and senior staff changes, and embracing the alignment of Leadership, Willingness, Readiness, Capacity, and Culture provided opportunities to periodically pause yet stay connected to achieve shared aspirations. 
   
   
4. NetHope moved into how digital technology could and should be used not only for member's organizational viability but also how digital technology could move into the field to benefit beneficiaries around the globe. NetHope has also become a leader in Cybersecurity and AI planning and implementation in the humanitarian sector. With TPF's Digital Access for All initiative, there is interest and an opportunity to borrow proven global practices to strengthen individuals and organizations in Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee, and Sarasota counties. 
   
   
5. With a commitment to strategic communications and offering value beyond check, TPF has provided multiple opportunities to lift up NetHope for connective-tissue building and strategic planning facilitation. 

The 2024 NetHope Global Summit provided ample opportunities to share with NetHope members and partners the "why" TPF is an investor.
