Jan Mauck of SNAC Receives the Lifetime Achievement Award
Posted on December 04, 2019 by Deborah Gauvreau, consultant with The Patterson FoundationAt its annual Summit, the Florida Action Coalition (FL-AC) recognized the passionate, highly effective, and widely-beloved leader Jan Mauck, co-founder of the Suncoast Nursing Action Coalition (SNAC) with their Lifetime Achievement Award. FL-AC recognized Jan for her leadership and advocacy work advancing the Future of Nursing Campaign for Action pillar of “advancing education transformation” and her outstanding work and leadership of SNAC.
A member of the FL-AC Education Committee, Jan contributes consistently and powerfully, bringing regional strategies, solutions, and exemplars to the state.
The FL-AC promotes academic education, professional development, and lifelong learning. It works to enhance nurses’ competence in patient care leadership and healthcare policy advocacy to advance population health in addition to empowering nursing leadership roles and impacting diversity and cultural competency. SNAC’s ongoing alignment with FL-AC importantly unites SNAC’s regional work to other local, state, and national leaders.
For the past six years, Jan, her co-founder Charles Baumann, and other leaders, formed SNAC and took effective action year after year, creating a track record of success adding to Jan’s 40 years of service at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System where she has completed her service as its highly respected and beloved chief nurse officer.
With Jan’s leadership, members of SNAC are united in a shared mission and in taking actions advancing education transformation to ensure our region has access to safe, high-quality healthcare in the Suncoast region and beyond.
SNAC is now seeking opportunities to inform legislators, policymakers, and the public about the unprecedented need in our area for qualified, well-educated registered nurses, and share strategies that are critical to addressing Florida’s nursing crisis.
Nurses and leaders around the state have been, like Jan, working tirelessly to advance nursing. In addition to presenting Jan Mauck’s Lifetime Achievement award, FL-AC recognized Anastasia Albanese-Oneal who received the Unsung Hero Award for her work to promote the Action Coalition and strengthen FL-AC communications and Marie Etienne who received the Most Valuable Leader Award for her years of leadership as a mentor, diversity council lead, and south team lead advancing projects such as the Nurse Entrepreneurship.
We celebrate Jan Mauck and many other leaders devoting their time and talents to advancing nursing, perhaps the most vitally important healthcare profession for our community and our nation’s future.
