Inside the New Beyond the Blog Podcast Studio 2.0

Posted on May 26, 2026 by Kiarra Louis, Leadership Support Manager with The Patterson Foundation
Since January 2023, The Patterson Foundation (TPF) has planned and produced its very own podcast, Beyond The Blog. At a high level, Beyond The Blog podcasts inform and engage listeners while sharing compelling stories of people, organizations, and communities strengthened by its 20+ initiatives. But I’d also share two more reasons why podcasts are a unique and important asset in our strategic communications toolkit:
  • Strengthening People, Organizations, and Communities: It’s true that TPF’s podcasts aren’t for transactional purposes like fundraising or marketing in the traditional sense, but it’s a platform to deepen our audience's understanding of TPF’s unique approach to philanthropy, increase engagement, expand participation, encourage them to leverage opportunities and resources, and identify collaborative pathways that may not otherwise be seen.
  • Creating Connective Tissue Through Conversations: Hosts have shared with us the joy of having conversations with people who engage with TPF’s initiatives and hearing them translate the impact of the work being done within our four-county area and beyond. Thankfully, it’s not one-sided. Guests appreciate the opportunity to speak about the work they do, the value of TPF’s more than money approach to philanthropy, which shows in knowledge sharing sessions, engaging in Suncoast Remake Learning Days labinars, or being invited to access resources and learning from national partners.

But don’t take my word for it, here’s what some guests and listeners shared with us:

“I came across your information on The Patterson Foundation website. I’m the Chief Program Officer at Forty Carrots Family Center and recently listened to your podcast with Dr. Folino on kindergarten readiness and the importance of social-emotional learning. I wanted to thank you for such a fantastic and informative conversation. You and Dr. Folino did an excellent job explaining not only why social-emotional learning is so critical but also how families can actively support their children’s growth in this area. It’s such an important topic for families as they begin thinking about school and academics. I also wanted to thank you for the kind shout-out to Forty Carrots. It truly means a lot to be recognized, especially since everything we do is grounded in healthy family relationships, attachment, and social-emotional wellness.” – Carla Johanns, Forty Carrots Family Center

“I really appreciated the opportunity to take part in this podcast. I loved being able to share about my work. You made my first podcast such a great experience. Thank you!” – Debra Estes, School District of Manatee County

“We distributed it to our staff and Social Enterprise Accelerator participants. We are also using it as an on-demand resource when people inquire about the program and want to learn more.” – Meher Shulman, Social Enterprise Accelerator – Greater Hartford Gives Foundation

With the value that podcasts bring in keeping us informed internally and engaging those externally, from October 2025 to March 2026, Andrew Spector launched a strategy refresh to heighten our efforts. The project identified six areas of excellence to elevate Beyond The Blog: hosts, guests, topic selection, production process, distribution process, and leadership structure. Part of the production process involved relocating the podcast studio at the TPF office to a more comfortable environment. You can take a look at the reimagined space in this three-minute video.

What can you expect in this new space?

  • Photos lining the walls that represent the people, organizations, and communities we have the privilege of strengthening every day.
  • A warm, fuzzy rug and burgundy curtains that bring warmth while supporting sound quality.
  • Our signature BTB sign is back, representing our commitment to creating space for conversations that dig deeper into the “why” behind TPF’s work.
  • Branded cue cards designed to guide without restricting, allowing dialogue to feel natural while still intentional.

And now we’re happy to share that the podcast studio is now ready to invite both guests and listeners into this space to go beyond the blog and into conversations on why the work we do matters.
