Honoring veterans through access to the arts
Posted on February 14, 2014 by The Patterson FoundationHow can you create special family memories for those who have served or are serving our country? The upcoming celebration of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall’s Military Access to the Arts program is one way. Military Access enables veterans, active military, and their families to attend Van Wezel shows.
The Van Wezel presents the 7 p.m. performance of Masters of Illusion Live! as part of its Military Access program and in partnership with Legacy of Valor, a campaign created by The Patterson Foundation to honor veterans and their families throughout Southwest Florida. Through the partnership with the Legacy of Valor, all 210 Military Access participants will receive tickets to the show.
Masters of Illusion is a spectacular stage phenomenon comprised of the most astonishing and amazing magical performers in the world! After the show Military Access participants are invited to attend a post-show reception and Q&A with members of the cast.
The celebration also includes opportunities for Van Wezel audiences to learn more about Military Access partner organizations. Partners include Goodwill Manasota, Jewish Family and Children’s Services of the Suncoast, Military Officers Association of Sarasota (who will also be giving out “Support Our Troops” kits), the Sarasota County Veterans Commission and Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida.
