Continuing to Strengthen The Giving Challenge

Posted on January 17, 2018 by Debra Jacobs, president and CEO of The Patterson Foundation
With profiles detailing more than 600 organizations throughout Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties, The Giving Partner strengthens philanthropy in our region by promoting nonprofit transparency while connecting them to both established donors and citizen philanthropists. As donors continue to become more intentional in their approach to giving, The Giving Partner has established itself as a sought-after tool for maximizing philanthropic impact.

Presented by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and strengthened by The Patterson Foundation, The Giving Challenge highlights this online platform by incentivizing donations to the nonprofits listed on The Giving Partner over 24 hours. Organizations have capitalized on this opportunity in years past by developing partnerships, utilizing high-touch and high-tech methods to educate potential donors, and by engaging their staff, volunteers and boards to share the opportunity — with astounding results. Since 2012, The Giving Challenge has generated more than $28 million for regional nonprofits while generating connections that support nonprofit missions well beyond the 24-hour event.

As previous efforts have proven, The Giving Challenge offers both immediate and sustained boosts for participating organizations. That’s why The Patterson Foundation has provided more than $11.9 million for The Giving Challenge to date in matching donations and other incentives. The Patterson Foundation is proud to continue this support into the upcoming 2018 Giving Challenge with the following contributions:
  • A 1:1 match for unique donations, up to $100 per donor, per organization. There will be no limit on the number of unique individual matches a nonprofit can receive.

  • $51,000 in prizes to organizations that cultivate the highest number of unique donors. Nonprofits must have an up-to-date fundraising plan uploaded to The Giving Partner in order to be eligible for these prizes.

The 2018 Giving Challenge promises to be an inspiring display of our community’s generosity and commitment to strengthening people and organizations. The Patterson Foundation is honored to support nonprofits that demonstrate a steadfast dedication to organizational transparency and integrity, and we look forward to your thoughtful work and innovations in preparation for an inspiring 24 hours from May 1-2.

      Hi Ron,
The list of participating agencies is available year round on the Giving Partner website:
Nonprofits listed on the Giving Partner must provide transparency for donors, so for nonprofits to qualify, they must have an updated profile. Under the 'Donate Now' button, it will say REVIEWED if it is up to date.
      Hope this helps!
