Florida Safe Survey: Providing Crucial COVID-19 Learnings for People of All Ages

Posted on September 01, 2020 by The Patterson Foundation
As we cope with the reality created by COVID-19, many are seeking opportunities to stop the spread while navigating the pandemic in a manner that promotes their continued well-being. While there is much we have yet to learn about this disease, the world’s great minds and scientific communities have uncovered and documented emerging insights to help us live our lives safely in the COVID-19 era. Accessing that knowledge and understanding how it relates to our own activities, however, can prove elusive across the vast, murky space of our digital landscape.

For Floridians, the path toward acquiring knowledge has become much more clear with the new Florida Safe Survey, presented by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA). Powered by the CV19 CheckUp platform developed by BellAge, Inc., the Florida Safe Survey gives residents of all ages an opportunity to make important self-assessments of their COVID-19 behaviors in a format that evaluates their degree of risk while providing recommendations and resources to reduce it. The survey typically takes between 4-9 minutes to complete, and customized results are instantly generated and shared based on questions about a person’s health, behaviors, age, living situation, activity level, and experience during the pandemic.

The hyper-personalized insight and information shared through the Florida Safe Survey strengthens each of us in different ways. For our more mature residents, who are especially mindful of complications stemming from a COVID-19 diagnosis, the survey can help them quantify their particular level of risk based on their age, health, and other factors. For younger people, it can assess their routine and activities to understand their potential for spreading the virus, spurring the adoption of safer habits.

Regardless of age, the pandemic has created and aggravated hardships, with concerns over finances, mental and physical health, food security, and other issues becoming top of mind for many. Beyond computing personalized feedback, the Florida Safe Survey also shares ways to connect with helpful, vetted resources that can address these challenges and help alleviate the undue stress they can create — thereby strengthening our capacity to endure the pandemic and continue toward a better tomorrow.

As a tool that can improve the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds, the Florida Safe Survey is very much aligned with The Patterson Foundation’s approach to philanthropy. Therefore, The Patterson Foundation is strengthening DOEA’s effort to drive participation in the Florida Safe Survey by connecting residents — especially in its home region of Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee and Sarasota counties — with the survey and its resources to help them make informed decisions and learn about the support options available to them.

This collaboration marks the latest evolution in The Patterson Foundation’s relationship with DOEA, which serves as a partner for the Age-Friendly Sarasota initiative. The Patterson Foundation and DOEA have strengthened this community-wide effort to promote active, engaged, and healthy living for people of all ages since 2015. Now, with a new opportunity to work toward this broader aspiration, The Patterson Foundation is once more complimenting DOEA’s efforts to share and strengthen this free resource for our region and state.

The Patterson Foundation encourages you to take the Florida Safe Survey and share it with your own networks to promote greater safety and clarity as we continue our collective push beyond this pandemic. Visit FloridaSafeSurvey.com to take the survey and learn more.
