Public innovators come together to accelerate aspirations to actions

Posted on August 05, 2015 by Beth Doyle

Torrential rainfall did not dampen the spirits of or stop 20 Public Innovators from coming together on Monday morning at the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County to participate in a special workshop hosted by The Patterson Foundation -- Accelerate Aspirations to Actions.

Teams shared what they have learned over the past year from hosting Community Conversations and how they are now using the community's aspirations to inform their work. This workshop also encouraged the innovators to identify where these themes intersect among the teams in our region so that they can connect and work together.

Recurring themes among the teams included education, transportation, economic development, millennials, and understanding diversity -- with the overarching theme of "community" ever present in the discussion.

The following pictures and Tweets serve as an introduction to the story of Monday's session. Aspirations to Actions Guide Pam Truitt will weave together the fine points of the workshop and focus on what success looks like in an upcoming blog post. Stay tuned!
