Following our aspirations

Following our aspirations

Posted on August 04, 2014 by Kathy Baylis

When you think about our community, do you list all of the things that are “wrong” with it, or do you dream about all of the things that we could dare to do or dare to be?

The Patterson Foundation is pleased to announce a new initiative called Aspirations to Actions that will take the aspirations of our community and turn them into actions that will result in positive change. This initiative, which is presented by The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation and funded by The Patterson Foundation, will change the way we approach issues and enables our community to develop innovative, collaborative partnerships that may not have been otherwise realized.

This initiative will kick off with a keynote presentation by Rich Harwood (@RichHarwood), founder and president of The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation. His speech, entitled “Reclaiming Main Street,” encourages us all to be catalysts for positive change. This event will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 4:30 pm at Lakewood Ranch Country Club - 7650 Legacy Blvd.

The yearlong Aspirations to Actions initiative will also include The Harwood Institute's Public Innovators Lab for more than 70 participants in diverse geographic areas of the region and diverse areas of community interest. The Patterson Foundation provided full scholarships for all participants and will support the work of the groups in the next year.

The Harwood Institute offers numerous tools to engage our community and our citizens. These tools and principles involve a high degree of collaboration and innovation, which aligns very well with the values of The Patterson Foundation.
