A Dynamic Collaboration: Fueling Dynamic Fundraising and The Fund Raising School Come Together for New Nonprofit Training Offerings

Posted on September 08, 2023 by The Patterson Foundation
Fueling Dynamic Fundraising (FDF) drives nonprofits to create and execute a strong fundraising program.

After listening to local nonprofits, we identified an unmet need for research-based fundraising education. Through a continuing partnership with the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy | The Fund Raising School (TFRS), local nonprofits can receive in-person training from TFRS faculty fully funded by The Patterson Foundation. Following the training, consulting support will bolster the implementation of learnings.

To join the training, nonprofits must submit a request to participate for up to two people. Because true change happens when all stakeholders participate, the CEO/ED of selected organizations will preview the course content with a TFRS instructor prior to the course. This webversation is a virtual two-way conversation that allows CEO/EDs to share their perspective and ask questions of fundraising experts.

With organizational size in mind and the intention to offer meaningful courses, FDF & TFRS are partnering on two in-person courses for nonprofits with current profiles on The Giving Partner.

The two courses are:
  • Principles & Techniques of Fundraising – Monday, November 13 through Thursday, November 16
    Classes are 8AM – 5PM each day.

Organizations with annual revenue between $300,000–$3,000,000 are invited to fill out the Request to Participate Packet for their organization to be considered. This course presents the total framework for operating an accomplished fund development program. Organizations will gain A-through-Z knowledge and skills essential for fundraising success in just four days. From identifying and validating prospective donors to building an annual fund donor base that keeps on giving, organizations will learn it all.

Requests to participate in Principles & Techniques of Fundraising are due on Thursday, September 28.

  • Fundraising for Small Nonprofits – Tuesday, December 12 and Wednesday, December 13
    Classes are 8AM – 5PM each day.

For organizations with annual revenue up to $300,000, Fundraising for Small Nonprofits is a course unique to them. This course addresses the fundraising challenges and opportunities experienced by small nonprofits. From building a convincing case for financial support to choosing the right fundraising vehicles for their organization, small nonprofits will gain valuable tools.

Requests to participate in Fundraising for Small Nonprofits are due on October 13, 2023.

Both courses require organizational investment. While there is no charge, participating organizations commit to pre-, during, and post-course assignments. But organizations aren’t the only ones investing. TPF is also investing time, talent, and treasure to provide a well-rounded opportunity that goes beyond training for organizations. This means that after either course, organizations will have the opportunity to continue with a year of consulting from Fueling Dynamic Fundraising initiative lead Sara Leonard, MBA, CFRE, and a TPF Fellow to guide them in implementing learnings from the course.

If you’re a nonprofit organization in Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee, or Sarasota counties with an active profile on The Giving Partner, click here to learn the full requirements of how your organization can be considered to participate in a course.

Please email TPF Fellow Alexa Carr at ACarr@thepattersonfoundation.org if you have any questions.
