Mike Kennedy

Mike Kennedy is a project manager, facilitator, public innovator, and climate solutions advocate.

He directed the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Florida operations in Bradenton for five years before leading the Bradenton Downtown Development Authority (DDA) from 2006-10. During Mike’s leadership, the DDA funded, designed, and began construction of downtown Bradenton’s award-winning Riverwalk and created the award-winning economic development nonprofit, Realize Bradenton. Mike then served 2.5 years as the first executive director of Suncoast Community Capital, a nonprofit that equipped people with low income to achieve greater financial stability. He also directed spiritual formation, global and local service, facility operations, and communications at Harvest United Methodist Church in Lakewood Ranch for five years.

Mike has served on several local and state nonprofit board of directors, including serving as board chair of Manatee County Habitat for Humanity and chair of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church’s missions committee.

The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation trained and recognized Mike as a “Public Innovator” in 2019. Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism from Duquesne University and his master’s of business administration from the University of Florida.
