Maribel Martinez is a digital inclusion subject matter expert and small business owner with over 25 years of experience in technology training, instructional design, professional development, and community outreach. She has created and developed programs and led teams during her first career as an educator and later as a professional trainer and nonprofit leader. Her efforts have collectively impacted millions, especially individuals from low-to-moderate-income backgrounds.

Maribel’s career highlights include co-leading the launch of the first all-digital teaching platform in 29 New York City schools, developing a virtual digital literacy skills curriculum and training program for working-age adults new to technology that was adopted in 30+ U.S. cities, and developing a course to train Digital Navigators in communities everywhere. She has also worked closely with top internet service providers, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, UnidosUS, and many city/county/state agencies and nonprofits nationally. 

Maribel is a bilingual Spanish speaker and holds a B.S., M.S., and an Ed.S. in education, and in 2006, she was recognized by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. She studied mentoring and teacher induction at the doctoral level, and in 2018, Maribel completed a nonprofit management certificate with a concentration in financial success from Cornell University. 

Since 2021, Maribel has been a consultant with The Patterson Foundation on several initiatives including Digital Access for All and the Digital Navigator Program. She is passionate about creating opportunities for people of all ages to adopt technology and views the ability to access the internet affordably as essential in today’s world. Maribel lives in Miami, Florida, with her family, where she was born and raised.
