What Are Your Aspirations?

Posted on October 07, 2019 by Deborah Gauvreau
The Patterson Foundation's Aspirations to Actions (A2A) initiative is supporting another 30 community passionaries who are taking the dive into the 8-week online course to learn about and apply The Harwood Institute's techniques to creating a deeper and more meaningful impact in our community. Individuals invested in Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee, and Sarasota counties are participating in the online program. They are also attending three additional in-person events to enhance and bring home connection, engagement, and action to our communities.

The Harwood Institute's approach is anchored in the question, "What are your aspirations?" instead of, "How do we solve these problems?" It's easy to feel a shift to positive energy when we explore aspirations rather than getting trapped in problem-saturated stories.

The Harwood practice is an orientation, a mindset, a stance, of using the community as a reference point for creating change, and not the conference room. A Turned Outward approach helps us get off the path of status quo and make more intentional choices, producing greater impact and relevance in our community.

Congratulations to the 30 individuals who are becoming Public Innovators via The Harwood Institute's Fall 2019 Virtual Lab:
