"Cut it or Keep it" event raises nearly $10,000 for Bringing Science Home Endowment

Posted on October 16, 2013 by The Patterson Foundation

The Patterson Foundation matched a $9,780 donation to the Bringing Science Home endowment fund. Bringing Science Home, which was created in partnership between USF Health and The Patterson Foundation educates and supports young adults living with chronic diseases such as diabetes.

South Tampa veterinarian Hansel Leavengood participated in Bringing Science Home's “Cut it or Keep it” campaign and agreed to cut his ponytail off if donations to "cut it" outweighed donations to "keep it."

One hundred and twenty donors, many of whom were new donors to Bringing Science Home, participated. Leavengood, a lifeling diabetic, got to keep his ponytail.

All of the donations will go to the Bringing Science Home endowment, a five-year partnership between USF Health and The Patterson Foundation that is currently working toward a $4 million dollar endowment fund for the program.
